The Block as Liberation: A Critical Analysis of Abhijeet Sarkar’s Synthesis of Relativistic Physics and Pragmatic Philosophy in The Block Universe
Abhijeet Sarkar · Zenodo
Abstract
Abstract This paper provides a critical analysis of Abhijeet Sarkar's 2025 book, The Block Universe: How Einstein’s Physics Proves Past, Present, and Future Are Illusions and Why Your Destiny is Already Written. The book presents a two-fold argument: first, that the "Block Universe" (or "Eternalism") is not a fringe theory but the direct, inescapable ontological consequence of Einstein's Special and General Relativity. Second, it argues that a full, courageous acceptance of this deterministic, four-dimensional reality is not a source of despair but the only logical foundation for a "Great Liberation" from the psychological suffering of regret and anxiety. Sarkar, founder of Synaptic AI Lab, crafts a unique synthesis that bridges computational logic, relativistic physics, and Stoic philosophy.
